Our Mission
United Ministries of Sumter County is an extension of the ministry of
area churches. It is a ministry of God's people whose mission is to
provide crisis assistance to those in need. The ministry provides direct
financial assistance, referrals, counseling and tries to address the root
causes of affliction with a Biblical perspective.
We are privileged at United Ministries to see God work through his
people. Christians travel to the ends of the earth to minister to people
that are afflicted and to preach the Gospel. The Bible, “God’s Word” tells
us to do that. However, we are also called as the “Church” to reach
those in need in our own community. The disciples sent Stephen and
the six to the widows who were being neglected in the daily distribution.
That is the essence of United Ministries. People were being met with
good teaching and others were being reached while a need was
addressed. Right after this the book of Acts 6:7a says “And the word of
God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in
Jerusalem,”. There was much more than serving tables going on here.
Scripture says there were great wonders and signs done among the
people. Our prayer each day is that Jesus would change hearts, and that
people would walk out of the UMSC building different than they walked
in. It’s happening! Clients, volunteers, visitors and staff are being
changed by God’s power. Without Jesus we have nothing.
