UMSC is crisis ministry. Our purpose is to minister to people in Sumter County. We want to help people get through their crisis. We are very thorough and verify as much information as possible. Our primary purpose is to educate people and give good counsel so they are encouraged to make the necessary changes in their lives to improve their current situation. We work with many agencies, ministries and organizations so they may use their expertise to help people in crisis.
Here at United Ministries we prepare a budget with every client that comes in. We do this to show people where their money is going. It also helps us in our decision making. We do not want to enable an unhealthy lifestyle. We hold people accountable. We all need to be held accountable for our actions, but at the same time people need to be able to have an opportunity to begin a new life. 2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold all things have become new". We need to remember "grace". Without it where would any of us be? We want to help people begin a new life.
